The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives was established in 1981 by ordinance to maintain the non-current records of the city-county of Butte-Silver Bow. Given the significant industrial, political, and social history of Butte in the American West, the government records and archival holdings are in great demand by scholars, authors, and genealogists. The Archives provides and encourages public access to its unique holdings. People come away from the Archives with a new-found appreciation of history and the significance of preserving the documents and manuscripts that tell the story of Butte and, through its significant impact, the world.

Located on the third floor of the Butte-Silver Bow Public Library, the Carle Gallery opened its doors September 2013. It was established by the library as a tribute to artist John Carle, whose murals and paintings depict Butte, its historic buildings, and inhabitants. The gallery seeks to continue to honor and support local artists by providing an opportunity for emerging artists to present their work professionally and to begin a dialogue with the community about their art. The Copper King Mansion, also known as the W. A. Clark Mansion, is a 34-room residence of Romanesque Revival Victorian architecture that was built from 1884 to 1888 as the Butte, Montana residence of William Andrews Clark, one of Montana's three famous Copper Kings. The home features fresco painted ceilings, elegant parquets of rare imported wood, gas and electric chandeliers, ornate hand-carved fireplaces and stairways and stained-glass windows. The mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The Copper King Mansion has been privately owned, operated, and occupied by the Cote family for four generations. The home is currently operated as a bed and breakfast. Guided tours are available during the summer tourist season, or by appointment.
