The main landfill is located several miles west of Butte off of Interstate-90. The facility is just north of Rocker, approximately 1 mile from the I-90/Rocker interchange, at 121074 N Browns Gulch Road.
Main Landfill: Open 7 days a week, year round, Sunday - Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. So you know, you have to have your truck or trailer unloaded and be out of Area C, the Main Landfill, before 5:15 p.m. Small household garbage will be accepted till 5:30 p.m. at the bins behind the Scale House. No trailers allowed at bins. The BSB Landfill is closed on all government holidays (New Year’s Day, Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr., Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day , Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.)

The Butte Landfill accepts the following: antifreeze, automotive batteries, cardboard, metals, oil, and yard waste.
Lets all do our part to keep our county clean. Leave your trash at the landfill, not along the roadside. Municipal Code 8.08.030 requires you to cover and secure your load with a tarp. Failure to do so will result in a $20.00 fee.
