The Butte-Silver Bow Law Enforcement Department performs sheriff’s sales per state statute.
Sale Information
The Sheriff’s Department does not issue titles. Public notice, publications, and posting may cost up to $200. Fees can vary from sale to sale. Sales are public and held at the courthouse steps. Open bids are accepted, cash and letter of credit from local bank. Sheriff’s sale paperwork has to be presented to the treasurer’s office for any title work for vehicles. The Sheriff’s Department does not guarantee title or condition of items sold. Upon completion of certified letters and postings, the sale can be 30 to 45 days after contact with the Sheriff’s Department.
