Hike Through History
Join the Butte-Silver Bow Health Department, Parks and Recreation, and the Archives every Thursday to take a literal walk through history!
From the West Side mansions to the trails of Thompson Park, this series led by Butte's finest will offer a little bit of history and exercise.
Each walk is free, but a $5 donation is appreciated with proceeds going to the Friends of the Archives and the Local Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Fund.
Snacks and water are available. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear good walking shoes. Sorry, no pets allowed.

Greenway Trail: Silver Bow to Ramsay with Dori Skrukrud
Discover the Greenway Trail and the restoration along this portion of the trail from Silver Bow to Ramsay.

Butte's Commerical District Tour with Mary McCormick
Learn about the architecture and history of buildings in Uptown Butte’s commercial district.
Meet at: Parking lot at Park and Dakota Streets

Stope Books with Tony Roth
What is a stope book? Come find out and learn about the underground mine tunnels that exist below Butte’s surface.

Cabbage Patch / 1895 Great Explosion with Jim McCarthy
Visit the surviving remnants of Butte’s forgotten ghetto before continuing down to the warehouse district to learn of the 1895 Kenyon-Connell Explosion.

Centerville Neighborhood with John Coles
Take a walk through one of Butte’s neighborhoods with stories shared by a local.

Come explore the reclamation work behind one of Butte’s best parks and all that it has to offer!

Thompson Park with Jocelyn Dodge
Get away from it all without getting too far away! Explore the Milwaukee Road and its fun and adventurous route through Thompson Park.

Top of the World to the Lexington Mine with Pat Cunneen and Mary McCormick
View Butte from this high point of the Summit Valley. Then continue through the landscape to the Lexington Mine.

Cemetery Tour with Aubrey Jaap and Lindsay Mulcahy
Come for a haunting walk through Mount Moriah Cemetery and learn about some of those interned there as well as the symbolism behind their intricate headstones.
