Tax Increment Financing Industrial District (TIFID)

The Tax Increment Financing Industrial District (TIFID), also known as Montana Connections Park, was approved with a Tax Increment Financing provision (TIF) and had a base year of 1/1/1994. TIF is a state authorized, locally driven funding mechanism that allows cities and counties to direct property tax dollars that accrue from new development, within a specifically designated district, to community and economic development activities. The TIF provision for the district expired on 6/3/2022. However, the district still has county owned property for sale and loan funds available to developers to assist with project development.

Montana Connections utilized TIF to construct new roads, bring sewer, water, industrial water, natural gas, electrical power, and fiber to much of the developable property in the district. The TIFID is located west of Butte at the intersection of I-15 and I-90.
