The South Butte TEDD was approved with a Tax Increment Financing provision and has a base year of 1/1/2017. TIF is a state authorized, locally driven funding mechanism that allows cities and counties to direct property tax dollars that accrue from new development, within a specifically designated district, to community and economic development activities. The area in the South Butte TEDD was determined to have infrastructure deficiencies that limit the potential for new investment and possible expansion by existing businesses. The South Butte TEDD encompasses the area between South Parkmont Road and Fat Jack Road, and along Basin Creek Road (Highway 2).
