The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives will continue its Brown Bag Lunch series on Wednesday, August 14, with a presentation by George Polich and Bob LeFever. Inspired by their volunteer work on the C. Owen Smithers photo collection, they have assembled a slide show about the history of aeronautics in Butte. They comprise one team of many that worked with Archives’ staff to identify, process, and rehouse the Smithers Collection for two years. Funding for the C. O. Smithers Collection was provided by the National Historic Publications and Records Commission, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, and Montana Resources. The presentation will begin at noon and run about an hour at the Archives, 17 W. Quartz. Guests are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee and water will be provided. Brown Bag Lunches are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Upcoming lectures will focus on topics of local interest. For more information, contact the Archives at 782-3280.
