Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive Matt Vincent, Urban Revitalization Board, and Butte-Silver Bow’s Department of Community Development invite the community to join us for a groundbreaking ceremony for Butte’s new Uptown Parking Garage. The ceremony is Monday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Galena Street Parking lot (north side of Galena between South Dakota and Main Streets).
The addition of 248 parking spaces gives needed infrastructure to Butte’s Historic Uptown and continue its path towards meaningful urban renewal. “Butte-Silver Bow is excited to get this vital project off the ground and moving”, Said Director of Community Development, Karen Byrnes, “The expanded parking options will prove to be a valuable asset to Uptown Butte.”
A $7.4 Million URA Tax Increment Bond is paying for the construction of the new public parking garage. Collaborative Design Architecture firm has designed the structure, and the construction will be overseen by Sletten Construction. Chief Executive Matt Vincent echoed the importance of what the parking garage will bring to Butte and the Uptown business district in particular: “Expanding Uptown Butte’s parking options has long been identified as an important piece of improving the viability of our historic Uptown central business district. This project breaking ground is another great example of the major investments we’ve been able to make in community progress and public infrastructure during my administration.”
