Beginning Nov. 1, the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest and the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow will be closing the gates at Thompson Park Eagles Nest for the season. The park gates will re-open May 1, 2017 for the summer season.
Visitors to this area may park at the highway entrances along MT Highway 1 and continue to walk in for recreation purposes. Additional access is available at the end of Roosevelt Drive at the Herman Gulch Trailhead; which is plowed during the winter. During this time maintenance services will not be provided at any of the developed sites within the park boundary. Visitors should plan to Pack In and Pack Out everything they may bring with them. Park visitors are also reminded that the discharge of firearms or other implements inside the park boundaries is prohibited.
