[ARCHIVED] Leave Pets at Home on St. Patrick's Day

The Butte - Silver Bow Animal Services Department is asking that you leave your pets at home during the St. Patrick’s Day parade and other celebrations over the weekend to ensure the safety of yourself, your pet and the community.

There are many reasons this is safer and more comfortable for your pet including:

-Large crowds can be intimidating and scare pets

-Loud noises can startle the dog and cause negative reactions

-They can get loose from their leash and get lost in the crowds

-People are out celebrating and may not use proper caution around dogs

-Your dog could get nervous and bite unexpectedly

When you leave your pet at home here are some tips to keep them comfortable and safe:

-Be sure they are in a safe secure area they cannot escape from

-Be sure pets have food, water, and access to warm shelter if outside

-Do not leave pets in the car, they can be sensitive to changing weather and could be nervous with surrounding celebrations.

If you have any questions or concerns please call Animal Control at 406-497-6525. Thank you and enjoy the celebrations!
