[ARCHIVED] St. Patrick's Day Road Closures

St. Paddy Shamrock Butte 2019

During St. Patrick’s Day weekend, BSB Parks and Recreation along with the Public Works Road Department will close the streets around uptown Butte Saturday March 16th at 3 pm until 8 am Monday March 18th. Main street will be closed from Granite to Broadway, keeping the crowd contained outside of Maloney’s but will allow Granite and Broadway to remain open. The second section of Main will be closed from Broadway to Galena. Park street will be closed east of the entrance of the parking garage to Wyoming Street. The barricades at Granite and Galena will have jersey rail behind them. All other barricades will he held down with sand bags. Emergency vehicles will have access into the closed area. Barricades will be placed at 1 pm on Saturday March 16th. Anyone parked in the no access vehicle will get a note asking to remove their vehicle by 5 pm Saturday March 16th.

Reasons for the street closure

  • Anticipated large crowd because St. Patrick’s Day falls on a weekend
  • Safety – we will not have traffic where the largest crowds gather – the only vehicles allowed in the perimeter should only be emergency vehicles
  • Clean up -  with no cars parked on the street, street sweepers and garbage trucks will have total access to the closed area
  • All public parking lots including the parking garage will be open except the approved closure of the parking lot at Main and Broadway
