From his slow, southern drawl and his Outback hat and his laid-back demeanor, you’d picture E. Jay Ellington more at home in the deep South or sun-drenched southern California.
And you certainly wouldn’t figure him as a management type or a number-cruncher at first.
He is those things, among others, and though he hails from Louisiana and has lived on the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast, he’s made a new home in Butte, Montana, as its director of parks and recreation.
He’s been unfolding his management style and vision to the parks and trails and open spaces of Silver Bow County since September with hopes of steering more resources and more people their way.
