Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive Dave Palmer will sign the Butte Superfund Consent Decree tomorrow at noon, Friday May 22, 2020 at the John Wardell Bridge across from the Butte Chamber of Commerce located at 1000 George St. Chief Executive Palmer will be joined by Butte-Silver Bow’s Superfund team to sign the decree.
“I am so proud to finally be signing the Butte Superfund Consent Decree,” said Palmer. “Our Butte-Silver Bow Superfund team has worked tirelessly for more than thirty years on the decree. This is such an exciting time for our community, and I look forward to the many ways the contents of the decree will not only benefit our environment, but also our economy.”
The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners voted in approval of Chief Executive Palmer signing the decree at Wednesday night’s council meeting. The decree is an agreement between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Butte-Silver Bow, Atlantic Richfield (now a subsidiary of BP), and the state of Montana. Next week, Governor Steve Bullock is expected to sign off on the decree.
