Health Department Announces Tuesday Seven New Cases of COVID-19
Seven cases of COVID-19 have been newly confirmed in Butte-Silver Bow, according to the county’s Health Department.
The new cases were confirmed beginning Friday, July 24, and through Monday, July 27.
The new cases include a female in her 20s, two males in their 20s, a male in his 50s, a female in her 60s, and two males in their 60s.
Health Officer Karen Sullivan said one male in his 20s, the male in his 50s and one male in his 60s have been linked to other confirmed cases. Department investigators have not been able to determine how the female in her 60s contracted the virus.
Investigations into how the other male in his 20s, the female in her 20s and the other male in his 60s continue.
In all of the new cases, the Health Department is following up with all individuals identified as close contacts.
The new cases bring to a total 44 COVID-19 cases in Butte-Silver Bow, since the county was informed of its first case March 13. The Health Department is managing 19 active cases.
Testing for COVID-19 continues in the community. Symptomatic individuals can be tested at Southwest Montana Community Health Center, 445 Centennial Ave. The CHC’s business hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Those requesting testing are asked to call ahead at 723-4075.
Those who have been identified by the Health Department as close contacts to individuals confirmed to have the virus may also be tested at the CHC’s drive-through clinic, on the west side of the building, 11 a.m-1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. These individuals are also asked to call ahead to 723-4075.
Also prioritized for testing are first responders and front-line healthcare workers. These individuals are defined as law enforcement personnel, ambulance staff, and firefighters, including wildland firefighters. Healthcare workers include physicians, dental personnel, nurses, physical therapists and front-office staff.
First responders and front-line healthcare workers may also be tested 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. These individuals are also asked to call ahead at 723-4075.
