[ARCHIVED] St. Patrick's Day Road Closures

This St. Patrick’s Day, BSB Parks and Recreation along with the Public Works Road Department will close the streets around uptown Butte Thursday March 17th at 6:00 am until 8:00 am Friday March 18th. Main street will be closed from Granite to Broadway, keeping the crowd contained in this block, but will allow Granite and Broadway to remain open. The second section of Main will be closed from Broadway to Galena. Park street will be closed east of the entrance of the parking garage to Wyoming Street. Immediately after the parade, Park Street will reopen from Main to Wyoming and Main will reopen from Park to Galena. The barricades at Granite and Galena will have jersey rail behind them. All other barricades will he held down with sandbags. Emergency vehicles will have access into the closed area. Barricades will be placed at 6:00 am Thursday March 17th. Anyone parked in the no access will get a note asking to remove their vehicle by the start of the parade.

Please see the attached maps.

Reasons for the street closure:

  1. Safety – we will not have traffic where the largest crowds gather – the only vehicles allowed in the perimeter should only be emergency vehicles.
  2. Clean up - with no cars parked on the street, street sweepers and garbage trucks will have total access to the closed area.
  3. All public parking lots including the parking garage will be open.

We will be proactive by sending out notices to all businesses, put information on the BSB website and contact the Montana Standard and other news media outlets about the closures.
