[ARCHIVED] Big Brothers, Sisters of year announced

The Big Sister, Big Brother, Big Couple, school-based mentor and community partner of the year recently were announced. They are:

Cherie Zemljak was named Big Sister of the Year. Cherie and Little Sister Jade have had a successful match for seven years. Their match began in June 2007. Cherie and Jade have formed a lifelong friendship that has stood the test of time. Cherie supported Jade when she was nervous about going to middle school and is helping Jade in her journey as she begins her freshman year at Butte High School.

Kevin Hodge was named Big Brother of the Year. Kevin and Little Brother Chance began their match in November 2011 when Chance was in fifth grade. Their match has been consistent from the beginning. Kevin remains steadfast in his commitment to Chance and has gone above and beyond what was asked of him as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program in giving of his time and talents. Kevin was also a board member in 2011-2012.

Larry and Sheryl Mayo were named Big Couple of the Year. Larry and Sheryl’s match with Little Brother Alexander began in September 2012. They have involved Alex in their church activities and have exposed him to numerous life experiences. Larry and Sheryl enjoy taking Alex on short trips and eating out. They have enjoyed watching Alex as he has grown and matured.
