[ARCHIVED] Original Festival is today, Saturday at mineyard

The two-stage Original Festival runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13, at the Original Mine Yard in Uptown Butte.

The event boasts a diverse musical and artistic experience filled with fire spinners, aerial artists, painters, stilt walkers, craft and food vendors and a musical lineup of 21 acts, said founder-director Matt Boyle.

"I want to clarify things for people. This festival has something to offer for everyone of every age group and musical pallet. This is about showcasing what we have to offer this community, and we do it in a way that brings people together, showcases local and national talent, and encourages creativity,'' Boyle said.

"Whoever is in that mine yard Friday and Saturday, I can guarantee this: they will be talking this festival up 363 days until next year arrives. We've got some surprises in store.''

With 17 bands, four DJ/producers, and after parties each night, the Original Festival has a varied musical lineup: Louisiana blues, alternative rock, folk, metal, jazz, indie rock, singer/songwriter, psychedelic rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic.
