[ARCHIVED] Mainstreet Butte Uptown Update for October 2014

It is October and time for our annual invitation for members new and renewing to join us for our fall special. If you sign up as a member of Mainstreet Uptown Butte in October, you will receive member benefits through December 2015. The easiest way is to go to the web site and join -- www.mainstreetbutte.org/join.htm.

Membership is more important than ever this year, as we no longer have financial support for our programs from Butte-Silver Bow County. Our long-time funding base from the URA ended with the sunset of the URA in June. This will have an impact on the variety of events and projects that we can present and pursue if we are not able to make up the difference through sponsorships and memberships. This represents a fundamental shift in our funding from the public sector to the private sector which is who we support with our activities. The inevitable result of this shift will be to limit the services we provide to members who make it possible to provide these services by paying annual dues.

Organization

New members at all levels are always welcome but we are especially looking for new Community Stewards. This is a new category of annual membership at $1,000 or more for businesses or individuals regardless of size to receive special recognition as a major supporter of Mainstreet Uptown Butte.

If interested in more details about the benefits, please send an email to geverett@montana.com or call 565-2249.

Design

Mainstreet recently painted over a bloom of graffiti on the Gold Rush Casino on East Galena. We also took some paint to a garage on North Clark facing West Granite Street to remove graffiti there as well. We are looking for someone who may want to tackle a challenging tag on the Quarry Brewing Co. If you have ideas, please let us know.

Thanks to the tree lady too who we engaged to trim suckers on entryway streets of Montana Front and Iron. This is the third cutting this summer to prevent the trees from following their disposition to become shrubs.

Also, we were recently able to help replace broken windows for members Trimbo's and Park Street Liquors. Both windows were broken during burglaries.

Farmers Market continues through October 4

The 2014 Butte Farmers’ Market season comes to a close this Saturday, October 4 from 8:30 am to 1 pm on West Park Street between Park and Main and Dakota Street in Uptown Butte.

The long-running Butte Farmers’ Market (this is its 19th season) has grown steadily over the last few years and the lively Saturday gathering place has a well-deserved reputation for providing customers with colorful and hardy bedding plants, farm fresh eggs, chickens, fruits and vegetables from the New Rockport Hutterite colony near Choteau, Hmong vegetable gardens in Missoula and many gardens and nurseries from throughout Southwest Montana. A variety of arts and crafts by local vendors and craftspeople from throughout Southwest Montana will be on display and for sale, too. If you haven't been to the market for awhile come up and check out the market, eat at a great restaurant and see what's going on at businesses in the surrounding streets.

To find out more about what to expect at the Saturday market this weekend, visit Mainstreet Uptown Butte’s web site at http://www.mainstreetbutte.org/fmarket.htm or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ButteFM.

Thank you to the many who provided us with feedback about upcoming events in our recent survey.
