In accordance with State law, the city-county has issued notification letters regarding unclaimed property. Warrants more than one year old need to be cashed or the city-county will remit the funds to the Department of Revenue as unclaimed property.
If you receive a notice and the warrant for payment has been lost or destroyed, you may complete the “Bond For Lost Warrant” form available using the link below.

The form must be returned to the Clerk & Recorders Office by October 29, 2014. If the form is not returned, Butte-Silver Bow will deem the property abandoned per Section 70-9-803, Montana Code Annotated (MCA). Butte-Silver Bow will then remit the funds to the State of Montana, Department of Revenue, as unclaimed property per Section 70-9-808 MCA. You may then pursue the property by contacting the State of Montana Department Revenue.
