[ARCHIVED] Good Neighbors: Animal control officer thanked

Recently, my stepdaughter called me; she was hysterical on the phone. She and her fiancé were walking their dogs on the Big M when they noticed some domesticated bunnies trying to move. They were all huddled together and the few that were still alive were badly broken and injured.

It appears someone must have just tortured them (by throwing rocks at them?) and left them to die. She brought the ones that were still alive to the house and tried to clean them up. One died in her arms, and the other was so badly broken he or she couldn’t move; it just laid there in agony. I called 911 who dispatched animal control. It was around 7 p.m., and the nicest young man from animal control came over quickly.

The man was so compassionate and already had a vet waiting. I just wanted to thank him and animal control for being so prompt and nice. I am sure the remaining living bunny had to be euthanized, but I am distraught as to how a human could cause so much pain to these innocent animals.

I guess I just wanted to think we were immune to that here in our town.
