The Butte Area One Natural Resource Damage Small Projects Workshop will be held on Tuesday October 28th at 6:00 PM at the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, 17 West Quartz in Uptown Butte.
If you or your organization has an idea for a project that would improve Butte-area natural resources or related natural resource based recreational services, then the Butte Natural Resource Damage Restoration Council (BNRC) wants to hear from you. This solicitation is being conducted pursuant to the December 2012 Butte Area One Final Restoration Plan, and an amendment to that Plan approved by the Governor on July 8, 2014 that is specific to the funding process for small projects.
Types of projects that will be considered include: mine waste removal, mine waste area improvements, revegetation, stream restoration, municipal water system improvements, storm water, education or research projects that are specific to and can benefit restoration of Butte area natural resources, or recreation projects that will provide or enhance public hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, or hiking opportunities.
A small project would be eligible for up to $100,000 in Butte Area One restoration funds. See the attached form for specifics.
Proposals must be received by December 1, 2014.
The BNRC/NRDP plan to evaluate all the proposals submitted. The BNRC will possibly host a meeting in January or February 2015 at which finalists will be given an opportunity to present their project proposals to the council and public. Funding decisions should be made shortly thereafter.
At this October 28th workshop, BNRC Members and NRDP staff will sit down with folks and help them complete there submittal forms. Hard copies of the form will be available at the workshop and the form will be posted on the Montana Department of Justice web page at: https://dojmt.gov/lands/advisory-councils/ or click here to download the form from the Butte-Silver Bow website.
I have reserved Monday afternoons (1:00 PM to 5:00 PM) during the month of November to assist folks with the completion of their Small Project Submittal Forms. So if you need more information or help with that form, just call or come by and see me.
