The Butte-Silver Bow Chief Executive’s Office has released the summary report on Butte from the Mayors’ Institute on City Design (MICD) West.
Chief Executive Matt Vincent was one of seven city leaders from the nation’s western states selected to attend the MICD Western Conference in Los Angeles in November, 2013. At the institute, Vincent worked with city design professionals on a case study of the Butte urban area to determine issues, obstacles and recommendations for improvements. The summary report is available via the link below. Other cities included in the conference were Rialto and Vallejo, CA; Corvallis, OR; Reno, NV; Marysville, WA and Buckeye, AZ.
The Mayors’ Institute on City Design is a leadership initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the American Architectural Foundation and the United States Conference of Mayors. Since 1986, the Mayors’ Institute has helped transform communities through design by preparing mayors to be the chief urban designers of their cities. Since its inception, only about 900 mayors nationwide have enjoyed the opportunity to take part in MICD. Butte joins Billings, Bozeman and Missoula as the only other cities from Montana to take part in the MICD to date. For more information, visit the MICD website at www.micd.org.
