On Thursday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. Butte-Silver Bow will hold a public meeting in Room 103 of the Butte Courthouse, 155 West Granite Street, to discuss the possibility of creating a National Heritage Area or Park.
The meeting follows a recent presentation to the Council of Commissioners by Historic Preservation Officer Jim Jarvis on National Heritage Areas, and a communication submitted to the Council by local resident Ed Banderob requesting that local government send a letter to the national Congressional delegation from Montana to ask that they direct the National Park Service to perform a special resource study on the possibility of creating a National Heritage Park and interpretive center in Butte-Silver Bow. Such studies are a typical first step in the establishment of National Heritage Areas.
