Learn to speed skate at local oval
The U.S. High Altitude Sports Center offers its Learn-to-Speed skate program every 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $40 per person, or $60 per family, all ages included.

The oval, behind Three Bears Alaska store and off Continental Drive, is open for free skating at any time the gate is unlocked. Family skate nights are 6-9 p.m. Fridays.
Free cross country ski lessons offered
The Mile High Nordic Ski Education Foundation will offer three free sessions of skate or classic cross country ski lessons next weekend.
The schedule is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan 10, at Mount Haggin; bring your own ski gear; and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at Homestake Lodge; bring your own ski gear or reserve free rental equipment by calling Mandy: 406-581-6202 or mandy@homestakelodge.com. Whether you’re an experienced skier and wish to tune up your skills and technique or if you’re a beginner and you want to learn and participate in the sport of cross country skiing take part in Learn to Ski Days.
