[ARCHIVED] Free tax filing services available in Butte

The Volunteers Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax filing services for people whose income is less than $53,000 annually.

Sponsored by Montana Credit Unions for Community Development, IRS-trained and certified tax-preparers will assist with federal and state returns and to receive a faster refund by e-filing.

No appointment is necessary, and service is on a first-come, first-served basis. The schedule follows:

- Aldersgate Methodist Church, 1621 Thornton, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Feb. 5 through April 9.
- Butte Business Development Center, 305 W. Mercury St., 10 a.m. to noon, every Saturday, Feb. 7 through April 11.

Bring identification, Social Security cards, last year’s tax return (if available) and all tax statements (W2’s, 1099’s, etc.)

An important change for 2014 is the Affordable Care Act -- if you are enrolled in the AFC you will receive Form 1095A from your insurer. The 1095A must be filed with the return. Details, 406-565-5214.
