Two Butte High students, Seth Jaksha and Logan Johnson, will receive their Eagle Scout badges in a ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2300 Florence Ave.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank earned in Boy Scouts.
Jaksha, a senior, is the son of Julie and Steve Jaksha. He has been scouting since first grade and is a member of Troop 1608. He chose to build a pavilion at the Jeremy Bullock Soccer Fields as his Eagle project. He approached the Butte Soccer Club and Butte-Silver Bow and started it his freshman year. He also spoke with the Bullock family to get their blessing for the project as the fields were built in memory of Jeremy Bullock.
Jaksha received more than $20,000 in donations from local businesses and private citizens. Jay Fortune of Fortune Construction assisted with the project by donating labor, equipment and personal time to mentor.
Johnson, a freshman, is the son of Deanna and Mike Johnson. He has been a member of Troop 1608 for four years, has earned 21 merit badges and served as patrol leader, quartermaster, chaplain aide, historian and senior patrol leader. His service project took place at the Kiwanis Sunshine Camp. Leading scouts and adults, Johnson created a trail with two bridges and installed trail signs at the camp.
He is also a member of the Apoxky-Aio Lodge 300, Order of the Arrow. He will be attending the 2015 National Order of the Arrow conference at Michigan State University this summer. He plans to be a doctor.
