[ARCHIVED] 2015 Field of Honor

2015 Field of Honor “A tribute to our heroes: a place of inspiration and healing”
September 10-13, 2015 Continental Drive and Mercury Streets, Butte MT

The Butte Exchange Club will again host the 2015 Field of Honor, which is a beautiful display of 1,000 U.S. Flags with the Highland Mountains and the Belmont Mine Headframe as a backdrop. These 3’x5’ flags will stand 8’ tall in perfect rows from September 10 to September 13, 2015. An Opening Ceremony will be held on September 10 at 5:15 p.m. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor or attend the Opening Ceremony.

This temporary display is a tribute to the strength and unity of Americans, veterans, currently serving military, first responders, law enforcement, personal heroes and victims of child abuse in Montana. Please join us in walking through the awe-inspiring display of flags, and let this be the perfect opportunity for all of us to unite as a community to remember, honor, and heal.

In addition to the Opening Ceremony, there will be other special events such as Candlelight Taps, Circle of Honor for Montana’s fallen servicemen and servicewomen, Blue Ribbon Flags to remember victims of child abuse, special music, and children’s activities. New this year will also be a Circle of Honor for our fallen heroes in the 9/11 attacks on our country.

Individuals or businesses may make donations to sponsor flags in honor of their heroes. Sponsored flags are tagged with the name of the sponsor and the honoree. These commemorative tags are available after the event. Flags may be purchased for an additional fee. Proceeds will benefit several local non-profit organizations.

With the help of the entire community, the open field next to the Belmont Mine Headframe will be transformed into a sea of red, white and blue as volunteers gather to set up the flags for display on September 10. Other volunteer opportunities are available.

The Butte Exchange Club is hosting this event and has obtained a license from the Healing Field Foundation (HFF). HFF is the creator of Healing Field® and Field of Honor ® Memorial Programs and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity established to assist other charities, causes and community awareness issues, in making their message and needs known through a visual event.
