BUTTE – Butte-Silver Bow Public Transit (public buses and para-transit system) will operate ‘Fare Free’ starting July 1, for a three-month trial period. This trial will allow Butte-Silver Bow Transit to identify if the change results in increased ridership. Other benefits anticipated are increased accessibility regardless of income, quicker boarding, and travel that is more convenient. “Increasing ridership, while making riding an overall more pleasant experience is very important to the long-term success of Butte-Silver Bow Transit operations. Our hope is when our whole community can experience the benefits of public transit they will consider it a great option for their daily transportation needs.” said Gary Keeler, Butte-Silver Bow Transit Manager.
