[ARCHIVED] Captain Brian Doherty Named New Fire Marshal

Butte-Silver Bow Fire Services is pleased to announce, pending confirmation by the Council of Commissioners at the December 16th Council of Commissioners’ Regular Meeting, Captain Brian Doherty as Butte-Silver Bow’s new Fire Marshal. If confirmed, Captain Doherty will take up his post on Thursday, December 17. Captain Doherty will be taking over from Fire Marshall John Lasky who will be retiring after 39 years of service.

Doherty graduated from Butte Central High School in 1993. After graduation, he enrolled at Montana Tech where he also played football for the Orediggers. In 1994, Doherty was hired as an advanced EMT for A1 Ambulance Service, serving in that capacity until May of 1998. At that time, the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Service hired Doherty as a firefighter, where he has worked and progressed through the ranks ever since. “I am humbled and excited by this new challenge,” said Doherty, “I am humbled by the trust the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Services and community has given me and am excited by the work of increasing fire awareness and prevention understanding throughout Butte-Silver Bow.”

Director of Fire Services, Jeff Miller added, “The Butte-Silver Bow Fire Service is appreciative of Fire Marshal John Lasky; for his service and dedication to the citizens of Butte-Silver Bow for nearly forty years. We all want to wish him the very best in retirement. At the same time, we are excited for Brian Doherty to be stepping into John’s role. Brian brings a fresh perspective and a level of enthusiasm and experience that will enhance the Fire Marshal’s Office.”
