The Butte-Silver Bow Department of Emergency Management, the Local Emergency Planning Committee and Pre-Disaster Mitigation Contractor, Tetra Tech Inc. are pleased to announce the release of the 2016 Draft Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. The complete draft is available for review on the Butte-Silver Bow website at: http://co.silverbow.mt.us/DocumentCenter/View/7461. “The Butte-Silver Bow Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) has spent the last six months reviewing and updating the 2010 BSB Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. After listening to community leaders, cooperative agencies in emergency response and the public, the LEPC has created a new and useful update to our plan. The 2016 Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan will be an important planning document for our community’s future emergency planning response and mitigation efforts,” said Director of Emergency Management, Dan Dennehy.
Every five years, each jurisdiction within a county must undertake an update to their existing pre-disaster mitigation plan. As required, once the draft is complete, a 45-day public commenting period prior to seeking Council of Commissioner final approval and adoption is required; the commenting period for this draft will conclude on August 5 at 5:00 p.m. The Butte-Silver Bow Department of Emergency Management will be hosting a public listening session on Wednesday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Emergency Operation Center (3619 Wynne Ave). If you are unable to attend the public listening session, but would like to provide feedback on the draft plan, you may do so at the following link: http://co.silverbow.mt.us/FormCenter/Emergency-Management-23/Public-Comment-on-2016-ButteSilver-Bow-D-72.
