The Butte-Silver Bow Health Department is investigating two newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.
The cases are represented by two males, one in his 50’s and one in his 60’s.
That brings Butte-Silver Bow’s total COVID-19 case count to 15. Health Officer Karen Sullivan said the county has four active cases, with 11 individuals listed as recovered from the virus.
The male in his 50’s – the county’s 14th case – was symptomatic and sought care. He is currently isolated and the Health Department is notifying and following up with his contacts. The case was reported to the department Saturday, June 27.
The male in his 60’s – the county’s 15th case – was also symptomatic and sought care. He too is isolated and the Health Department is notifying and following up with those contacts. The case was reported to the department Monday, June 29.
The Health Department’s investigation into both cases continues.
On June 25, the Health Department announced two newly confirmed cases, a male in his 20’s and a female in her 20’s. The department determined that both of those cases were related to travel outside of Montana, with the individuals experiencing symptoms and seeking care upon return to the state.
Sullivan reminded Butte-Silver Bow residents to be cautious, with precautions including social distancing and wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
Community-wide testing for COVID-19 will resume the week of July 5, with testing occurring in the westside parking lot of the Butte Plaza Mall, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting. All who are asymptomatic are welcomed. Those who have symptoms are asked to seek testing at Southwest Montana Community Health Center, 445 Centennial Ave. in Butte. Those experiencing severe symptoms are asked to seek emergency medical care at St. James Healthcare.
